When even your favorite things feel like too much

Hey friend,

There are days when you know what usually helps.
You have the tools.
You have the practices.

And still, nothing feels reachable.

Even the things you love.
Even the things that usually bring comfort.

If today is one of those days, I want you to hear this clearly:

There is nothing wrong with you.

Sometimes the nervous system isn’t asking for action.
It’s asking for less.

Less effort.
Less choice.
Less expectation.

On these days, even kindness can feel like too much when it comes with instructions.

So instead of reaching for what usually helps, try this:

Let yourself do less than you think you should.

You don’t need to regulate perfectly.
You don’t need to move anything through.
You don’t need insight or relief.

You can simply stay.

Stay seated.
Stay breathing the way you already are.
Stay connected to one small point of contact like the floor, the chair, or your own hands.

And sometimes…
You turn on the shower, sit on the floor, and let yourself cry where no one can hear you.

Honestly?
That counts.

Intentional shower crying is one of the most underrated nervous system releases there is.

You are allowed to be supported without doing anything to earn it.

These moments are not setbacks.
They’re part of the rhythm of healing.

The body softens in layers.
And sometimes the most honest response is stillness, not strategy.

If nothing helps today, that doesn’t mean nothing will.
It just means today is a rest day for your nervous system.

And rest counts.

If you want to reply to this email, I’d love to hear—
What’s one small place you hide or soften on hard days?

No fixing.
No explaining.
Just being human.

With gentleness,
Kimberlie
